Uniform Policy

MANDATORY UNIFORM POLICY

Howard A. Doolin Middle School has a mandatory uniform policy.  There seems to be a consensus that just as it takes a village to raise a child, so does it take a “whole school” approach to educate one.  With your support, our students can look like school children.  They can be representative of a learning environment dedicated to education and they can wear an outfit that distinguishes them as belonging to Howard A. Doolin Middle School, “their” school.  Finally, they will be able to go to school with fewer concerns as to what to wear to school each day.

TOPS: SOLID RED or NAVY BLUE polo-type shirts with collars and sleeves.  Female tops should not be form fitting and show the midsection.

BOTTOMS: NAVY BLUE or KHAKI long twill pants worn with a belt at the waistline for boys.  NAVY BLUE or KHAKI long pants or skirts (just above the knee) for girls.

Skirts must be worn no more than one inch above the knee.  Pants must be worn on the waist with a belt.  No undergarments should be visible.  SHIRTS MUST BE TUCKED IN PANTS WITH BELT CLEARLY VISIBLE AT THE WAIST.

SWEATERS: In cool weather, sweaters may be worn.  They must be SOLID RED or NAVY BLUE.

UNDERSHIRTS: Students may wear a shirt under their polo shirt.  However, the undershirt must be RED, NAVY BLUE or WHITE.   Undershirts must not be larger than the uniform top.

SHOES: Closed shoes only! Sandals and slippers are not permissible.

ID BADGES

Students will be issued an ID badge at the beginning of the school year free of charge.  This ID badge must be worn on a daily basis.  If a student loses their ID, it is their responsibility to purchase a new one immediately.  They may purchase a replacement ID badge from the treasurer in the Main Office.

WALKING AND BIKES

Safety is important for students to practice on their way to and from school.  Students are expected to observe all traffic laws and regulations.  An area is provided for students to chain and lock their bicycles.  However, the school is not responsible for stolen or damaged bicycles.  Helmets are required by law!
